It may feel too dangerous<\/span>\u00a0at certain times to having children experiment and learn how to\u00a0<\/span>barbecue, however by teaching the basic<\/span>s of<\/span>\u00a0barbecuing to your kids\u00a0<\/span>gives them a\u00a0<\/span>skillset that\u00a0<\/span>they<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>will cherish and appreciate in their near future. Fire is luxurious and children need to realize its\u2019 importance, especially if you are already an \u201coutdoor activist\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Barbecue Basics<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Explain<\/span><\/b>\u00a0the grill safety<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before you start to\u00a0<\/span>barbecuing<\/span>\u00a0with your kids, you\u00a0<\/span>must make sure that they are aware of the danger when it comes to fire. E<\/span>xplain\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>do\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0and don\u2019ts:\u00a0<\/span>what they\u00a0<\/span>can do and what they can\u2019t do.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Start by\u00a0<\/span>explain<\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0importan<\/span>ce of cleaning the grill before use. Then, when one is done using the grill, one must make sure that the\u00a0<\/span>briquettes<\/span>\u00a0are completely \u201cdead\u201d and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>not\u00a0<\/span>burning:<\/span>\u00a0in the process of cooling down<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Preparing the food<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here comes the fun part, preparing the meat and vegetables. Allowing them to have influence on the food and you may even explain why it is so important to consume vegetables. That grilled corn has a high\u00a0<\/span>fiber<\/span>\u00a0content, which can improve one\u2019s digestion. It also contains essential minerals such as zinc, magnesium and iron, which are important for our overall health. Perhaps, even c<\/span>hoosing the\u00a0<\/span>meat based on the marbling<\/span>\u00a0of your meat could be something new and different for the kids. Or the high protein content in various types of meats, which actually plays an important role in sustaining our muscles. Making your barbecue into an informative and academic activity<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Barbecue Method<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In case you don\u2019t know, there are 4 different barbecue\u00a0<\/span>methods:<\/span>\u00a0Direct Method, Indirect Method, Snake Method and 50\/50 method.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For starters, you can explain the 2 basic methods<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>W<\/span>e often use, the Direct Method\u00a0<\/span>or<\/span>\u00a0the Indirect Method.<\/span>\u00a0Understanding the difference may be more interesting for older children<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Direct Method<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The direct grilling method is a simple and basic way to grill. The “Direct Method” is suitable for smaller cuts such as steaks, chops, vegetables, shrimps, and burgers.\u00a0<\/span>D<\/span>irect\u00a0<\/span>grilling<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>takes<\/span>\u00a0about 20-30 minutes. You can use any grill to do the direct\u00a0<\/span>method,<\/span>\u00a0but it works best with the grill lid closed during cooking<\/span>: for absolute best results.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Indirect method<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The indirect grilling method is best\u00a0<\/span>when one is grilling<\/span>\u00a0larger meals such as turkey, brisket, ribs,\u00a0<\/span>or\u00a0<\/span>other\u00a0<\/span>meats<\/span>\u00a0that require long, slow cooking<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 typically at a<\/span>\u00a0low or moderate heat. This indirect grilling is the\u00a0<\/span>suitable for grilling that requires\u00a0<\/span>more than 30 minutes\u00a0<\/span>of heat.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
