As the demand for more sustainable practices grows, businesses are increasingly exploring innovative solutions. One such solution is monoplastic packaging, a type of packaging made entirely from a single material, which simplifies recycling and reduces environmental impact. At Cavron Global, we have been working on developing monoplastic packaging since 2022 as part of our commitment to sustainability and compliance with EU recycling regulations.
The Development Process and Key Milestones
Our journey into monoplastic packaging began in 2022. The development process has been through numerous trials and adjustments as we aimed to create packaging that is sustainable without compromising the quality . Our monoplastic packaging made with 2 layers of PE material bonded together with PE glue, creating a cohesive and recyclable packaging solution that aligns with the EU recycled packaging regulations.
This year, we finally made significant progress, reaching important milestones:
May 2024: Printing Trials
In May 2024, together with our partner we began creating packaging samples for our new monoplastic packaging. This involved testing various methods to ensure our designs are both durable and visually appealing. These trials were essential to confirm that our packaging meets quality standards and performs well in real-world conditions.
June 2024: Packaging Tests Based on International Standards
Following the printing trials, we conducted a series of packaging tests in June 2024. These tests were carried out according to ASTM international standards, which are widely recognized benchmarks for evaluating packaging performance. The tests focused on various factors such as material strength, durability, and the ability to protect the product during handling and storage. The results indicated that our monoplastic packaging meets the required standards for global distribution, demonstrating its suitability for practical use and its compliance with EU regulations.
Q3 2024: Implementation
In Q3 2024, we plan to ship a container of finished goods with monoplastic packaging to Europe. This marks an important phase in our implementation process, where we also observe how the packaging holds up during transport. This shipment allows us to assess the effectiveness of our packaging in real-world conditions, ensuring it meets the necessary standards for international shipping.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Looking ahead, our goal is to gradually switch to monoplastic packaging to our BBQ charcoal briquettes bags by 2025. This change will support our sustainability efforts and ensure that our packaging solutions meet both our customers’ expectations and the regulatory requirements of the European Union.
At Cavron Global, we are doing our best to implement sustainable practices in our products. One of our key initiatives is the development of monoplastic packaging, and we are ready to continuing this journey with our customers and partners.
